Birmingham New Street Station

DGP Logistics have been onsite continuously supporting the Birmingham New Street Station Redevelopment for over 12 years since the project commenced in 2010.

During the initial stages of the Project, DGP Logistics were employed to carry out builders and temporary works on the Project. This initial scope included core holes; strip out and minor demolition; temporary walkway construction; secure perimeter hoarding erection; and project office and welfare facility fit-out, all working to Network Rail’s safety critical standards and procedures.

As the Project progressed, DGP were appointed to undertake further works including permanent works comprising toilet facilities & rest rooms including mechanical and electrical services; Permanent secondary steelwork, including handrails to platforms and operator safety CAT Ladders; Carpentry and stud walls with vinyl flooring to create public walkways through construction zone; Installation of water management systems during the removal of the existing and reinstatement of newly steel and glazed rood façade.

DGP provided the final Builders Work clean-up, in preparation for the handover of the station concourse, platforms and commerce areas to the respective stakeholders. This work was undertaken with direct DGP employees and specialist cleaning sub-contractors.

All construction works utilised personnel approved to the Rail Sentinel card standard and Track Visitor Permits these ensured that everyone working on the railway has completed the relevant training and qualifications.

DGP were finally awarded the Multi-Service Team Works and given the logistics package to manage the security, traffic management, distribution of materials, storage and the day-to-day deliveries via the delivery booking in system. This system
covered the off-site consolidation yard as well as the on-site storage facility.
